NHS swine flu advice clarified
|
Friday 24th July 2009 News Index The NHS has been accused of providing misleading advice to pregnant women in reaction to the swine flu pandemic.
The National Childbirth Trust (NCT) was suggesting that women should put off trying to conceive until after the pandemic had passed.
The NCT was accused of scaremongering, but it seems they only took advice from the DoH website.
Apparently the Royal College of Midwives (RCM) and the Royal College of Obstetricians and Gynaecologists (RCOG) were advising pregnant women to avoid rush hour, stay indoors and restrict the movement of other children so to avoid bringing the virus home.
They now are not suggesting you stay indoors or restrict your children - but strongly recommend good hygeine practises.
We have set up a page giving the latest - sensible advice to pregnant women who may have concerns.
Please see our Swine Flu page.
