Recycling


So many of you responded about recycling, and you seem to be very good at it.

But for those that needs some guidance below are a list of the items that can or cannot be recycled

Can you Recycle

Aerosols Yes 75% of local authorities accept at recycle banks or kerbside collection
Batteries Yes - but only a few local authorities have schemes
Beverage Cartons Yes - local authorities and kerbside collection
Bicycles Yes - at your nearest recycling centre
Books No - because of glue - but you can donate to charity shops
Car batteries Yes - at recycling centres
Carpets No - you will need to sell it, donate to charity or perhaps garden centres for mulch
Rarely - best way is to use supermarket recycle schemes
Clothes Yes - at recycle centres and of course charity shops
Compact Disc (CDs) No - but some organisations recycle them, or you can donate or sell them
Computers Yes - some recycle centres may accept them or you can donate or sell (make sure you clean properly first)
Cooking Oil No - household oils cannot be recycled - let them go solid and add seeds to feed the birds
Drink Cans Yes - at your local recycle centre or kerbside
Egg shells No - add them to your compost bin or use around plants to deter slugs
Engine Oil Yes - local recycle centres
Envelopes Yes - via kerbside collection or paper bank
Food Waste Yes - some local recycle centres, but if you have been provided with a kitchen caddy use that and for your compost (not meat or cooked food)
Furniture Yes - local recycle centres take reusable furniture
Garden Waste Yes - some kerbside collections or garden waste bin at your local recycle centre
Glass Yes - kerbside collection and recyle at bottle banks
Greeting Cards Yes - some kerbside and local recycle centres. Look out for special schemes around Christmas time!
Hearing Aids No - but some special organisations may take them
Keys Yes - dispose of like metal at local recycle centres
Light Bulbs No - but try to buy energy efficient ones to avoid changing frequently
Magazines Yes - kerbside and local recycle centres
Milk Bottles No - if glass return to your milkman
Mobile Phones Yes - via the specialist shops and some charities
Nappies No - they just go into landfill sites with household rubbish
Paint Yes - at your local recycle centre or local
Plasterboard No - but should! trials are taking place are various centres
Plastic Bottles Yes - kerbside and local recycle centres
Printer Cartridges No - see organisations that specialise in recycling
Shoes Yes - through recycle centres, donations and charity
Shredded Paper Yes - some kerbside and recycle centres - but some paper manufacturers cannot use paper in this form so only shred confidential paper
Spectacles No - donate to Vision Aid Overseas
Stamps Yes - with paper collections or charity shops
Televisions and Monitors Yes - local recycle centres may accept
Textiles Yes - at recycle centres
Tin Foil Yes - at your local recycle centre and some kerbside collections - make sure it is clean first
Toys No - recycle centres won't take them, so donate to charity, toy libraries or pre-schools
Video Cassettes No - donate to charity or commercial organisations
White Goods Yes - recycle centres will take items such as fridges, freezers, cookers, washing machines and dishwashers
Wrapping Paper Yes - in most cases via kerbside collection or recycle centre
Yellow Pages Yes - put in your paper kerbside collection or recycle centre
Yoghurt Pots Sometimes - you will need to check with your local collection as it varies

My babys 1st birthday yesterday
First birthdays?!

total nightmare trying 2 think of something 2 do for next week. decided on having a quiet, relaxing day on phoebes actual birtday...just seeing grandparents ect in the morning. then on the saturday will be havig a small tea party for a few little friends, no more than 5, and just for an hour/hour an half so plenty of time 2 munch cake and sarnies and sing happy birthday-maybe the disney channel too!...but not too long so birthday girl wont be cranky and house wont b 2 wrecked! should be fun! x x x
