Choosing a holiday park

How far do you want to travel? There may be a holiday park right on your doorstep, the UK offers hundreds of choices from the large well-known operations, like Butlins and Pontins to small family run centers. If sunny weather is non-negotiable, check out our camping abroad section for holiday parks in France and Spain.

The next step is to look at the facilities on offer at the various parks. For UK parks, find out if the swimming pool is indoors, or at least heated. If, for example, you really need a few nights out, without the kids, check that the resort has a babysitting service. Finally, find out exactly what’s included in the price of the holiday so you don’t go way over budget.

Sharing Experiences

""We have three children aged 7, 5 and 3. When we first visited Center Parcs the youngest was 18 months. We return every year as the children love it. The villas accommodate young children safely and all the equipment is provided.

The swimming pool is the children’s favourite place with pools for babies and children as well as the adults. There are even free play pens dotted around the poolside. All the restaurants catered for children, there was highchairs and in most a play area. For peace and quiet the children enjoyed the crèche and children’s activity clubs and cannot wait to visit again. It's all my children talk about from the end of one holiday until the next one arrives. I would recommend it to anyone whether you want a relaxed lazy break or a busy sporting break."

"Friendly and affordable, suits parents and children" - Pontins.

"Butlins is designed for kids" - Butins
