The British summer is a truly great time of year and children love the sense of freedom and adventure that the great outdoors brings. If you are pregnant, the heat can be wearing but it can also bring some memorable moments enjoying the sun, warmth and relaxation. We love to celebrate summer and with a few ideas and bit of common sense summer can be loads of fun.

Not only is it great to be outdoors but its an opportunity to share the good times with family and friends. It can be so difficult keeping up with friends and having a social life whilst bringing up a young family but summer activities provide the perfect excuse to spend time together as a family as well as with others.

Another great thing about the summer is that it can be a very cost effective time of year with heating bills lower (although they never seem to be low these days!) and the opportunity for some cheap days out. Meals too can be easier and cheaper by eating simple seasonal vegetables and fruits, especially if picnicking or barbecuing.

Its nice to try to share the sense of freedom and fun that kids experience in summer, life can be all too demanding and draining if we are not careful. Children can enjoy the most simple of things and us adults can take a leaf out of their books and do the same sometimes!
